Launch of a judicial cooperation between Czech Republic and Italy

(April 3, 2017), Prague and Rome will promote bilateral initiative for the exchange of judicial information to be made available also for European Courts. The shared long term goal is the creation of a European network of national rulings relating on personal, social, work and family rights. Other planned activities will cover two main areas: political, with an exchange of good practice between the CSM and the Czech Ministry of Justice in view of the national judicial reform, and that between the judicial systems, with the possible opening to Czechs magistrates of the classrooms of the CSM training School. "Now we begin the judicial cooperation between Italy and the Czech Republic - said Vice President of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) Giovanni Legnini at the end of the confrontation at the Embassy of Italy in Prague with the highest representatives of the Czech judiciary system. Despite the excellent diplomatic relations and long-standing tradition that binds our countries, cooperation in the judicial field had not yet been initiated". The purpose of the visit, in fact, which was also attended by the First President of the Supreme Court Giovanni Canzio, was precisely to lay the foundations for this type of agreements. Canzio focused on the urgency of uniformed standards for European courts, "and also from this need was born the idea of the Ambassador Aldo Amati to promote these meetings in the Czech Republic". In particular, talking about Italy, Canzio stressed "the need to speed up the systems and judicial practices", since a functioning judicial system is not based only on solutions, but also on the solution time. In this sense, it has been hoped for the rapid implementation of complex IT systems in the judiciary service. "The information revolution we are experiencing is far from complete and the judiciary must follow developments, not only in the fight against organized crime, but also as a tool for transparency, accessibility and verification of results," concluded the first president.
