Pisa’s Sant’Anna is among the best young universities in the world

(6 April, 2017) University rankings continue to certify Pisa’s Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies as one of the best young universities in the world. The latest ranking is from the English ‘Times Higher Education’ which included the Sant’Anna in the top ten universities founded less than 50 years ago. Sant’Anna celebrates its 30-year anniversary this year and this ranking confirms it has best performs (9th out of 10) compared to 2016 considering the 25% increase of universities taken into consideration by the Times – 200 in 2017 compared to 150 in 2016. The Times Higher Education ranking is based on the same indicators as the general ranking such as teaching, research, publications, and citations in international journals, globalisation, technology transfer, and relations with industries. “It is undeniable how Sant’Anna, founded 30 years ago, crossed off all the boxes, consolidating its global success among the youngest universities. It has improved its ranking making it to the top ten young universities, and this is a huge success” commented the chancellor Pierdomenico Perata. When our competitors are the best young universities in the world, obtaining a position seems a perfect team effort where there is a great pride in belonging to Sant’Anna but most importantly, where the quality of all the assessed areas is very high. In this success, we find our core values such as talent and merit that have guided us in selecting all the people who have contributed to our affirmations and help us spread our name throughout the world, strengthening our reputation. The ranking is an ulterior confirmation of the competitiveness of the Italian university system and research along with the complementarity of the Scuola Normale Superiore, with whom we are moving forward towards federation. Celebrating 30 years is an honour and more importantly, a motivation to work harder and improve in the face of our global competitors”. (Red)
