University, a student from Parma among those Huawei selected for training in China

(April 12, 2017) For the second consecutive year there’s a student from the University of Parma, Giulia Piselli, among the ten Italians selected to participate in "Seeds for the Future", an annual training program initiated by the telecommunications giant Huawei in its headquarters in China, under the auspices of the Italian Ministry of University and Research and the Ministry for economic Development. Giulia, a student of the Master in Communication Engineering, has recently returned from China together with nine other Italian boys who with her have participated in this experience: two weeks of information technology and Chinese culture, between Shenzhen (headquarters of Huawei ) and Beijing. The project "Seeds For The Future" ended with the awarding of certificates of merit within a major event attended by the Italian Ambassador to China Ettore Sequi, the vice president of Huawei Guo Tianming and other guests. The first leg of the trip was in Shenzhen, with a training course within the headquarters of Huawei. Lessons of Cloud Computing, Wireless and Optical network in the morning and practical workshops in the afternoon. "I think this - observes the young student - has been one of the most appreciated aspects by all because, unfortunately, in Italy the practical lessons are often lacking. That said, I want to thank the University of Parma for giving me a solid foundation to learn and develop new ICT concepts. In particular professors Riccardo Raheli and Giulio Colavolpe for supporting me in this experience". In Shenzhen, moreover, Giulia and other participants had the opportunity to discover the technological innovations of Huawei and understand the process of realization of some products in a visit to the Songshan Lake factory. The students then moved to Beijing for the second week, inside the campus of Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). Here students followed an intensive Chinese course and attended calligraphy and painting lessons. There have also been visits to historic monuments. (Red)

ABOUT / A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE

"I like to describe my experience in China as unique - said Giulia Piselli. In just 12 hours, I was catapulted into a reality so different from mine I was astonished. To bring me back down to earth were my traveling companions, 9 from Italy and 5 from Malta. I believe that sharing this adventure with other boys so similar to me was the icing on the cake for an enrichment not only professional but also personal". "This adventure - said Giulia - has not only enriched my cultural background, but it will be much important for my future. I am happy and honored to have shared this journey with 14 other people: each of them has in fact gave me something unique that I now carry inside of me. I come back from this experience more confident, more aware of my abilities and with an enlarged overview that will really help me in my professional life as a telecommunications engineer."
