Success for the Italian-Chinese joint police patrol programme

(28 April 2017) Starting 25 April, Italian State Police and Carabinieri will collaborate with Chinese Police in patrolling Beijing’s tourist areas to assist Italian tourists and facilitate communication with local Chinese law enforcement. On 26 April the Italian Ambassador to China, Ettore Sequi joins the effort with uniformed officers at the Temple of Heaven - one of the most important heritage sites in the country. "Thanks to this new joint surveillance effort Italian State Police and Carabinieri arrive in China for the first time. The initiative will help instil trust and understanding between our two nations" stated Ambassador Sequi. The Italian Embassy adds that this venture is progressing positively and that it appeals greatly to tourists traveling from Italy and other countries. Italian State Police Officers, Carabinieri and Chinese Police Officers will continue to collaborate until 5 May in both Beijing and Shanghai in areas of major tourist attraction such as the Great Wall, the Temple of Heaven in Beijing and Waitan Park in Shanghai. The initiative was pitched on 24 April in Beijing during ceremony organised by the Ministry for Public Safety in the presence of Ambassador Sequi and the Head of the international police cooperation service in Italy, Dr. Gennaro Capoluongo.
