"Women Fighting Mafia", tribute to Falcone and Borsellino

(June 6, 2017) The Italian Cultural Institute of Munich paid homage to Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, 25 years after their death, with a series of events starting on June 29. The film "Die Frauen der Mafia" (directed by Barbara Conforti, France 2014, 52 mins, in German) will be screened, a documentary film about the roles of women dealing with the mafia: from those who are complicit to those who , Against their family, cooperate with justice. Also included are readings from "The Rebels" by Nando Dalla Chiesa, with students from the Faculty of Philology of the University of Ludwig-Maximilian and their teacher Emanuela Perna. The inauguration of the "Frauen und Mafia" exhibition is also planned, with the introduction of Francesca Rossi-Uszkoreit. The exhibition focuses on the role of women in the fight against organized crime and their strength and courage: with different roles, inspired by a deep sense of justice, they became spokesmen for education to legality, defended their own principles and ideals, breaking the barriers of silence, they have become an active part in the fight against organized crime. ABOUT / EXHIBITION

The exhibition - aimed at all citizens, and especially young people, with the goal of raising awareness of the importance of the fight against organized crime - is composed of texts and photographs of women divided into categories (women of Institutions, mothers, sisters and daughters of the fallen, women belonging to mobbing clans become witnesses and collaborators of justice, women who with books, articles and photographs fight the phenomenon). It will be open until July27.
