Archaeology. the University of Florence collaborates with Armenia

(3 July 2017) The University of Florence has received funding for students, teaching and administrative staff to travel to Armenia and Myanmar, within the framework of the new Erasmus + International Credit Mobility Action Line 107, which allows for participation in an extra-European mobility experience. "The allocated amount of over € 110,000 will allow for the mobility of 24 people both in and in and out of the country: the project, lasting until 2019, will involve the Department of History, Archaeology, Geography, Art and Entertainment (SAGAS) in partnership with Yerevan State University (Armenia) and Mandalay University (Myanmar) which the University of Florence already has cultural and scientific collaboration agreements. In particular, cooperation with Armenia will take place in the field of public archaeology and light archaeology for the study of the medieval landscapes of the Silk Road. With regard to Myanmar, the initiative is part of the co-operation project co-ordinated by LaGeS - Laboratory of Social Geography, aimed at the management of the country's intense tourist development - and in particular of the ancient royal cities of Upper Myanmar - according to principles of environmental, social, and cultural sustainability.

THE PROGRAMME

The International Credit Mobility Program, which extends travel opportunities for student and staff to Partner Countries, aims to support the internationalisation of higher education, but also and above all, to strengthen interest in schools and supporting them in competing with the global market for higher education, enhancing the impact of the European Union's development policy.
