Drummer Roberto Gatto at Bohemia JazzFest 2017

(July 4, 2017) There will also be Italy at Bohemia JazzFest 2017, which will take place from July 10 to 18 in the Czech Republic: the Kermesse, born in 2005, will stop in Prague, Pilsen, Liberec, Domažlice, Tábor and Brno. On the opening night - July 10 at 8.30PM in Prague's Old Town Square – there will be the concert of Roberto Gatto, one of the most renowned Italian drummers. The concert, organized in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, will be opened by the Czech counter-bassist Miroslav Vitouš, who will later play in trio with Rudy Linka, Czech guitarist resident of the USA, founder and director of Bohemia JazzFest and Roberto Gatto. The three musicians will be accompanied by the Rozhlasový Big Band Gustava Broma orchestra. Roberto Gatto's debut dates back to 1975 with Trio di Roma and since then, the artist, who also composed music for cinema, performed throughout Europe and around the world and received honors as best Italian drummer. In 1983 Roberto Gatto was elected the first Italian drummer in the survey of the monthly magazine Fare Musica. In 1983 and 1987 with the Lingomania band, he won the Top Jazz referendum of the Jazz Music magazine in the best group category. In 1988, 1989, 1990, he was ranked first in the Guitar Club's "favorite" drummers category. In 2007, 2009 and 2010 he was voted best drummer from the Top Jazz poll in the Musica Jazz magazine.
