Music, artist's residence with Elektromusikstudion for Fabris and Mussida

(August 9, 2017) Francesco Fabris and Sandro Mussida will be resident artists at Elektromusikstudion in Stockholm, from August 14 to 20. After the various collaborations made in the last few years, the two artists will take the opportunity to record an album together in the studios in Ems. The initiative is promoted in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture of the Swedish Capital. Musician, producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and sound engineer, Fabris works on live electronics, interactive installations, AV performances, video and studio productions. In his personal work he combines concrete and organic elements with electronic and digital processing and visual content. London-based composer Mussida is instead a cellist and performer of electronic music. His work calls into question the identity of languages and musical traditions. (Red)

ABOUT / THE IIC HEADQUARTERS

The first headquarters of the Stockholm Institute was located in an apartment in the Östermalm district, where activities were mainly related to the teaching of the Italian language. Over the next few years, the need for more space became more and more pressing, pushing the Italian authorities to assess the idea of building an independent site. A key role in the foundation of the new Institute of Culture was Carlo Maurilio Lerici. When he came to Sweden in the 1930s he devoted his industrial activity to the production of stainless steel, while cultivating numerous cultural interests, especially in archeology. In 1953, an area in the district of Gärdet was identified in the framework of bilateral agreements between the Italian and Swedish states for the donation of land plots to be allocated to cultural institutes. The project of the new venue was signed by Gio Ponti in collaboration with Pier Luigi Nervi and donated to Carlo Maurilio Lerici, who assumed the burden of most of the expenses. The seat was inaugurated in the presence of the King of Sweden Gustav VI Adolf on November 24, 1958.
