Honorary Degree to Lucia Nadin, a lecture on migration

(September 26, 2017) Professor Lucia Nadin will hold a lecture titled "There is no progress in studies without the use of sources" on the occasion of the ceremony for the Honorary Degree she was assigned by the University of Tirana. The lectio intends to show how many new elements of knowledge about Albanian history and culture have emerged for over twenty years of research, developing the following cognitive nodes: characteristics of Albanian migration in the lands of the Serenissima and deep differences with migrations in the south Italy (Arbëresh); the study of archival sources to determine times and ways of settling Albanians in northern Italy; type of sources; multiplicity of texts and contexts; examples of results: the discovery of the text of the Statutes of Scutari; Scutari's resistance in the Venetian narrative epopee; the writing ways of Marin Barleti and the links with his publisher Bernardino de Vitali; the figurative apparatus of Gjon Buzuku's Meshari and the Venetian editorial world; the creation and the holding of the Myth of Scanderbeg in Venice in art and theatrical tradition; an eighteenth-century tragedy re-found: Scanderbeg of Trifone Smecchia; indicating possible follow-up paths by those who, in the future, would like to continue the studies of the sector.
