Graphics, design, communication: in Serbia the tribute to Osvaldo Cavandoli

(September 27, 2017) Osvaldo Cavandoli (1920 - 2007) was a designer, an animator, a director, a comic strip artist. The artist has become famous, above all, for being the "father" of the La Linea character: one of the Italian excellences that has traveled around the world. Today, Serbia is paying homage to him. The Institute of Culture in Belgrade, the KomunikArt Association and MUSIL - the Brescia Industrial and Work Museum, present the "Viva Cavandoli" international exhibition, which will be inaugurated on October 3 at 7 pm at the cinema "Vojvodina "In Pančevo and will remain open to the public until October 15. "Viva Cavandoli" is a tribute to the great designer who in 1969 created and animated the character of La Linea. La Linea was born for advertising purposes for an Italian appliance manufacturer but not long after the comic came to the small screen and became famous around the world. This animated series has "walked" in more than 250 episodes and has marked the childhood of a generation. The main character is the man walking on an infinite line and is in constant communication with his designer. This is the product of extreme graphic synthesis. The stories he interprets are tragicomic situations of the average man's daily life. Cavandoli's hand appears occasionally in the field to interact with his character, creating obstacles or solving some situations with few traits of pencil. The Line is therefore inseparable from its author, who marked the history of Italian graphic design and design, the history of mass communication and influenced Italian collective consciousness.
