British preview for "Sharp Families", a documentary by Patrick Grassi supported by the Trentino Film Commission, which tells the story of the families of the "moleti", who brought the art of sharpening blades to the world and particularly in London and the rest of England from Val Rendena. "Sharp Families" will be the first film screening of the 2018 CinemaItaliaUK festival, which will be held on Tuesday January 16th in the historic London Regent Street Cinema. The film has been selected by the association that annually chooses twelve of the best Italian films and documentaries in circulation and hosts the talents to present them to the British public. For many years, CinemaItaliaUK has distinguished itself in the British peninsula thanks its efforts to spread Italian works in a high-level film festival that has seen names such as Maria Sole Tognazzi, Paola Cortellesi, and Checco Zalone. Providing the perfect setting is the historic Regent Street Cinema in the heart of London's West End within walking distance of Oxford Circus, where in 1896 the Lumière brothers presented, after the premiere in Paris, the Cinematograph to a paying audience, giving life to cinema in England. The protagonists of the film along with the many knife-grinders of Trentino working in London will attend the film screening, along with their clients and long standing Italian immigrants. The Italian Consul in London is a special guest who will witness the value with which knife-grinders have contributed to the construction of the Italian community within the British workforce.
