Presentation of the Ravenna Festival and the Italian opera academy

The presentation of the 29th edition of the Ravenna Festival (1 June - 22 July) and of the 4th edition of the Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy (21 July - 3 August) will be held on Friday, January 19th, at 11:00, at the Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm. It is an opportunity to discover how a high-level cultural offer meets the traditions and the historical-artistic heritage of a city containing eight UNESCO monuments. Since 1990, every year the Festival has made the city of Ravenna a stage for almost two months: theatres set up in Byzantine basilicas studded with mosaics, palazzos, cloisters, beaches, and parks, and industrial archeology. These extraordinary places welcome a programme that includes all the artistic languages, where the great events of symphonic music and dance alternate with chamber music, ethnic music, opera, jazz, musicals, and theatre. In the Italian Opera Academy, Riccardo Muti leads young conductors and collaborators - selected from hundreds of applications - to discover the mechanisms of musical construction to performance. The event was organised by the Ravenna Festival in collaboration with the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute.
