Castigliano and Italian against English, a conference in Lima

The Italian Institute of Culture of Lima presents the conference "¿Internacionalización o claudicación? El castellano y el italiano frente at the desafío del inglés" (Internationalisation or Surrender? Castilian Spanish and Italian against the challenge posed by the English Language) by specialists Carlos Gatti and Gabriel Valle. Carlos Gatti is a Professor of Italian literature, a member of the Dante Society of America, the Riva-Agüero Institute of PUCP and of the Sociedad Peruana de Estudios Clásicos. Professor Gabriel Valle is a philosopher, translator, and lecturer at the University School for translators and interpreters of Trento. The conference will analyse Spanish and English as languages that generate mechanisms to assimilate or oppose the enormous influence exerted by English. The conference will also present the book "Italiano Urgente: 500 anglicismi tradotti in italiano sul modello dello spagnolo" (Urgent Italian: 500 Anglicisms Translated to Italian based on Spanish) (Reverdito, 2016) by Professor Valle with a prologue by Tullio De Mauro. The event will take place on Tuesday, August 21st at 19:30 in the Pier Paolo Pasolini Auditorium of the IIC. (9Colonne)
