(14 December 2018) From January 18th to 27th, a new production of Don Mozart's Il Don Giovanni will be performed at the Brooklyn Theatre in Pretoria. The piece, set up by Salon Music, sees the participation of both South African artists (Deirdré van Schalkwyk in the role of Donna Anna and Linelle Wimbles in the role of Donna Elvira) and international artists (the Spanish tenor based in Florence Antonio Garés in the role of Don Ottavio and the Viennese baritone Lukas Johan in the role of Don Giovanni). The Italian Institute of Culture in Pretoria coordinated the release of the libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte, performed for the first time in 1878 in Prague. The libretto, in addition to the bilingual Italian-English text and information on the production, contains information on the history of the great Italian librettist.
