A round table on Marco Polo's travels in Istanbul

Istanbul - The Italian Cultural Institute of Istanbul, in collaboration with the Department of Italian Language and Literature and the Italian Culture Club of Istanbul University, and with the support of the Department of Italian Studies at Ankara University, has organized a conference to celebrate the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo's death. Speaking at the event will be the director of the Marciana National Library in Venice and the Central National Library of Rome, Stefano Campagnolo, who will focus on various translations of "Il Milione" based on interesting documents preserved in the libraries of Venice and Rome; Tiziana Plebani, a professor at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, will discuss the will and documents preserved about the traveler; and Nevin Özkan Speelman, a professor and Head of the Department of Italian Language and Literature at Ankara University, who will speak on Marco Polo and Italo Calvino between real and imaginary travels. The event will be moderated by Cristiano Bedin, a professor in the Department of Italian Language and Literature at Istanbul University. (9colonne)
