(18 January, 2016) Floraleda Sacchi is one of the most interesting harpists currently active in the international musical scene. Born in Como in 1978, her inspiration stems from records by Annie Challan. Since discovering her talent, Sacchi recorded for major music labels and performed in theater halls around the world. Floraleda Sacchi also starred in several theatrical collaborations and was awarded the Harpa Award for her book on Elias Parish Alvars. Between 1997 and 2003, she won 16 prizes in different music competitions. She plays an Erard harp from 1816 and two modern "Style 30" harps made by Lyon & Healy. The composer is now preparing for a series of concerts, the first on January 24 at the MaMu – Magazzino Musica in Milan, and later across Europe: on Saturday, January 30 at the National Theatre of Nice; on February 7, the young harpist will instead be at the City Hall Museum of Perast (Montenegro); on February 23 at the Hotel de Paris Galiffet, and on February 28 at the Teatro Sociale in Bellinzona, Switzerland. Covering both contemporary and traditional music, Floraleda Sacchi will perform songs from "Minimal Harp," an album that created an entire genre for harp and led her to collaborate with Philip Glass and Michael Nyman. Other pieces will be taken from the more recent "Intimamente Tango", which covers famous baroque pieces of "Harp Favorites" and the Spanish sounds of "Harp Dances". (PO / red)
THE CONCERT IN MILAN
On Sunday, January 24 the harpist will star in an interview-concert at MaMu – Magazzino Musica (via Soave 3 at 7pm, open to all) in which she will trace the main junctures of her musical journey. In a conversation with journalist Gian Mario Benzing, the artist will recount her original work on albums published by Universal, Decca and Deutsche Grammophon. "I am honored to be able to present some of my music projects that have been published by Universal - says Floraleda Sacchi - With their support, I was able to make myself known to the general public and to stand next to the giants of classical music pop. It will surely be exciting to retrace this adventure."
