(17 May 2016) Leonardo-Finmeccanica presents the Navy League Sea-Air Space Exhibition salon (Washington DC, May 16 to 18). The US navy is the first to obtain a variant of its AgustaWestand single-engine AW119 helicopter, called TH-119 dedicated specifically to training duties for military clients. The new version features capabilities and distinctive features compared to AW119Kx commercial model while maintaining the benefits in terms of certification and operational maturity. The TH-119, as the civilian version, continue to be produced in the factory in Philadelphia. Characterized by its high safety standards, thanks to the redundancies of the typical main AW119 systems, the TH-119 also features new instruments ideal for training both for visual flight (VFR Visual Flight Rules) and with the aide of instrument flight rules (IFR, Instrument Flight Rules) produced by Genesys Aerospace. The aircraft is configured to be the best solution on the market for training in adverse weather conditions and reduced visibility. "The TH-119 - explains a prominent the Leonardo-Finmeccanica group member - is the best solution at the right time for the US Navy, called to renew its own helicopter training capacity in the future to meet the new operational challenges."
