(25 june 2018) The film event “Great Contemporary Italian Film Directors” takes place in Germany, offering the public the possibility to see film reels of a highly artistic value. The cineforum of the Centre for Italian Studies of the University of Heidelberg - a town along the river Neckar in South Western Germany - pays tribute to the greatest contemporary Italian film directors. “La grande bellezza” (The Great Beauty) (2013) by Paolo Sorrentino will be shown on Thursday June 28th. This event (at the Romanisches Seminar, Ernst-Robert-Curtius-Saal (RS 218), Seminarstr. 3, Heidelberg) was organized by the Italienzentrum Heidelberg in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture of Stuttgart. This masterpiece by the Neapolitan filmmaker has received numerous international recognitions. In 2013, it was presented at Cannes Film Festival and received an Oscar Award (2014) , a Golden Globe, BAFTA award for best foreign language film, four European Film Awards, and 5 Silver Ribbons best foreign language film and numeours other awards. The Great Beauty starred numerous names among which are Carlo Verdone, Sabrina Ferilli, Carlo Buccirosso, Roberto Herlitzka, Serena Grandi, and Isabella Ferrari.
