(26 june 2018) In recent weeks, the national event on human health policies in the health sector was held in Lima, bringing together more than 100 regional officials as well as numerous representatives from institutions operating in the health sector. The event was organised by the Peruvian Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. During the two-day event, the "Human Resources National Policies of the Health Sector 2018-2030" was presented. It was stipulated with the contribution of experts from the Italian Cooperation in the framework of the "Technical Assistance Programme at the Ministry of Health" - an initiative begun in 2011 that accompanies the Peruvian Ministry of Health with direct actions to strengthen the capacity for governance and sector planning. The document, formulated jointly with officials of the Personnel Directorate General and previously shared with the public and private bodies in the sector, emphasises the need for a greater number of health professionals, especially doctors, and their fairer distribution throughout the nation.
