Conference Tourism: Rome Overseas

(11 July 2018) With the support of the Capitoline Administration, the Rome and Lazio Convention Bureau flies to New York to promote business tourism. 45 professionals from the leading American MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Congress & Event) companies met yesterday at the Academy of Science of the Big Apple. The buyers were identified among those specialised in European destinations, following a careful selection of a reference target. "The initiative to sponsor our conference offer in the United States stems from a precise analysis of tourism demand, which sees Americans leading in the top ten foreign visitors to Rome. They in fact represent 41.47% of foreign visitors in 5-star hotels. Another interesting fact is that Americans make up 25.29% of our foreign market share: 1 in 4 of the foreign occupants of Roman hotel and accommodation facilities, comes from the United States. As the United States is one of the biggest financial centres in the world, the subject of conferences is clearly one of great interest" according to the Deputy Mayor for Economic Development, Tourism, and Labour of Rome, Carlo Cafarotti.
