(11 October 2018) The concert of the Italian double quartet Double Cut, currently on tour in Africa with the eleventh edition of Jazz in Africa will be held on October 13th in Durban, South Africa, at the jazz venue The Chairman.The event was organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of Pretoria in collaboration with the Fondazione Musica per Roma and the Dante Alighieri Durban Society. Double Cut is an unusual quartet consisting of two saxes, a double bass and a drum set plus a series of unusual instruments. Born in 2014 to coincide with the anniversary of the birth of Adolphe Sax, the group aims to explore the expressive potential of the instrument both by reworking Jazz classics and original songs that are the background to improvisations free from genre affiliations.
