Cinema, Last Tango in Paris <br>in Bratislava

The Cinema Arena in Bratislava remembers Bernardo Bertolucci, Oscar-winning director, who passed away at the end of November 2018, with the screening of his film "Last Tango in Paris", on January 24th at 19:00. "Last Tango in Paris", 1972, is probably the scandal film par excellence. However, despite the fact it has long been debated, there are many other interesting aspects of its development and history. As is well known, the film centers around meetings in an abandoned apartment in the center of Paris between Paul (Marlon Brando), a middle-aged American who has just lost his wife to suicide, and Jeanne (Maria Schneider), a twenty-year-old Frenchwoman sentimentally linked to another man, focusing on the destructive implications of the passion that unites them. Even more than with sex scenes, Bertolucci stirred the audience with a new Marlon Brando, stripped of his stardom and shown in a light that spectators had never known him. (9Colonne)
