Cooperation: support for pediatric <br> heart surgery

(25 march 2019) The Italian Ambassador in Pristina, Piero Cristoforo Sardi, and the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kosovo, Uran Ismajli, met the Italian and Kosovar doctors involved in the second of ten missions carried out by Italian personnel to help train local health personnel in the field of pediatric heart surgery.  The initiative is part of the activities envisaged by the "Support to the Health System in Kosovo" project, implemented by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and aimed at supporting the development of Cardiac Surgery and the national infection control plan in Kosovo.  The Italian government supports this project with funding of over three million euros.  During the meeting, Minister Ismajli thanked the doctors present and Italy for the support offered to the Republic of Kosovo's health care, in particular to ensure greater efficiency. Ambassador Sardi underlined the importance for Kosovo of incorporating and applying European standards in the health sector, which Italy is committed to supporting with this project.
