Luigi Ballarin's exhibition on the ancient Yoruba people in Nigeria

Abuja - On Tuesday, June 4, in Abuja, Nigeria, Luigi Ballarin’s new solo exhibition, "Human and Spiritual Wealth of the Yorubas," will open and be on display until June 7 at the Gallery Fraser Suite Hotel Abuja, curated by Beste Gursu. The exhibition, organized to celebrate the Republic Day, proposes an "artistic" bridge between Mediterranean European culture and that of the Yoruba, an ancient and rich ethno-linguistic group of about 40 million people now mainly spread across West Africa. Through this exhibition, Ballarin uses the expressive power of art in a sincere, introspective, unifying, and captivating way. Each figure, each brushstroke, and each color reflect on the canvas with courage, almost as if they were alive. "The exhibition by maestro Luigi Ballarin showcases an engaging exploration of the human and cultural richness of the Yoruba people within the context of Nigeria’s rich and multi-ethnic society," says Stefano De Leo, the Italian Ambassador to Abuja. "Through his artworks, Ballarin delves into the rich heritage, traditions, and symbols of Yoruba culture, offering viewers an insight into the essence of this vibrant African community. With a masterful use of color, texture, and form, Ballarin brings to life the spirit and diversity of this people, highlighting their deep connection to history, beliefs, and customs. Each painting is a visual narrative celebrating the beauty, resilience, and creativity of Yoruba culture, inviting the public to appreciate and engage with the multifaceted aspects of this ancient civilization."
