Cinecittà in Dakar: spotlight on Italian women directors

As part of "Italian Screens," an initiative by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the General Directorate for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Ministry of Culture, organized by Cinecittà to promote contemporary Italian film production, the Italian Cultural Institute of Dakar presents a program dedicated to Italian female directors. These directors are central figures in an exceptional season of Italian cinema, offering the local audience an insight into the new female perspectives emerging in "made in Italy" cinema. The next screening is scheduled for July 18th at 8:30 PM, featuring Alice Rohrwacher's film "La Chimera," which competed at the Cannes Film Festival. Rohrwacher previously won the Special Jury Prize in 2014 for "The Wonders" and the Best Screenplay Award in 2018 for "Happy as Lazzaro." The film will be presented in its original language with French subtitles at Cinema Pathé in Mermoz Dakar. All screenings in the series are free, but reservations are required via email at iicdakar.segreteria@esteri.it.
