The Faito Doc Festival kicks off with a focus on Palestine

Exclusive screenings and events immersed in nature. Starting today and continuing until July 24 on Mount Faito, the 17th edition of the Faito Doc Festival, conceived and directed by Nathalie Rossetti and Turi Finocchiaro, takes place. This year's theme is "roots," featuring 50 documentaries from over 20 countries around the world. There will be 27 documentaries in competition, divided into three categories: one dedicated to feature films and two to short films, including one dedicated to film schools. The international jury is composed of director Sergio Guataquira Sarmiento, who won the last edition with “Adieu Sauvage”; editor Rudi Maerten (Belgium); program manager of Lyon Capitale TV Perrine Robert (France); editor-in-chief of Taxi Drivers Diletta Ciociano (Italy); and director Marcello Bivona (Italy). In addition to the professional jury, there will be the international youth jury, the Camino jury, and the Faito Doc Camp jury. A focus on Palestine is scheduled for Saturday, July 20, with the screening of the film “Ma'loul Celebrates Its Destruction” by Michel Khleifi, followed at sunset by a performance with Omar Suleiman, “The Land of Sad Oranges,” adapted and directed by Patrizia di Martino, based on the story by Ghassan Kanafani. Among the scheduled screenings are “Going Home” by Anglo-Palestinian Omar Al Qattan and several films about migrants, including “A Country of Resistance” by Shu Aiello and Catherine Catella about Mimmo Lucano's struggle.
