The sound of two cultures: Jazz and Senegalese traditions in concert

Dakar - On November 21 at 7 PM, the Italian Cultural Institute in Dakar will host an exclusive concert that promises to be an unforgettable experience.

The first part of the event will feature the unmistakable voice of Ada Montellanico, one of the most refined and innovative interpreters of Italian jazz, alongside the versatile guitar of Edoardo Cian. Together, they will deliver an emotional performance reinterpreting iconic pieces of Italian music—Tenco, Fossati, De Gregori, and others—enriched with original jazz arrangements. Ada's warm voice blends perfectly with Cian’s versatility, creating an intimate and captivating atmosphere where jazz and poetry meet in a magnetic musical embrace.

In the second part, two talented Senegalese musicians—El Hadji Sora, a virtuoso of the Kora, and Paby Sow, a young percussionist from Casamance—will join the performance, introducing a fusion of Senegalese sounds and jazz improvisation. El Hadji Sora, deeply rooted in the griot tradition and hailing from Dakar, brings with him a rich cultural and musical heritage shaped by international experience, while Paby Sow, with his extraordinary rhythmic talent, has already toured with some of the greatest artists of his generation.

This musical encounter, centered on improvisation, offers a unique opportunity for cultural exchange, creating a sonic journey between Italy and Senegal that is sure to inspire and amaze. (9colonne)
