Italy’s musical heritage goes online with global partners

New York – Strengthening the international presence of higher education institutions in the arts, music, and performing arts from Southern Italy while enhancing Italian musical heritage through digital innovation: this is the goal of Voices of Heritage: From Beneventan Manuscripts to Modern Music Through the Lens of Innovation.

The project, a collaboration between Università Pegaso, the Benevento Conservatory, and the Campobasso Conservatory, is supported by €4 million in funding to create a global archive accessible through modern technologies. With the backing of Università Pegaso, Beneventan manuscripts will be digitized and made available online, establishing a platform for scholars and music enthusiasts worldwide in partnership with the University of Texas.

An immersive online exhibition will present Italian musical heritage to a global audience in an innovative and engaging format. At the end of the project, a call for startups will be launched, offering participants an acceleration program organized by the Benevento Conservatory.

The initiative also aims to promote international mobility for students, faculty, doctoral candidates, and artists with institutions in the United States, Canada, and Serbia.

The project was inaugurated with two days of events in New York, including a workshop at the Italian Cultural Institute led by Università Pegaso Rector Pierpaolo Limone on the conservation and reinterpretation of Beneventan Manuscripts and a concert at Carnegie Hall. (9colonne)
