Bosco Verticale celebrates 10 years: Stefano Boeri unveils new book in London

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Bosco Verticale, architect Stefano Boeri presented the book “Bosco Verticale: Morphology of a Vertical Forest” at the Italian Embassy in London during an exclusive event dedicated to this contemporary Milanese architecture. It has become a symbol of the city of Milan, not only an icon of green architecture but also a pop culture icon, starring in films, TV series, quizzes, jewelry, fashion, advertising, and songs. During the evening, Boeri discussed the project, designed by his studio, in conversation with Nic Monisse, design editor of Monocle, and Francesca Cesa Bianchi, director and partner of Stefano Boeri Architetti. The volume, published by Rizzoli in collaboration with Stefano Boeri Architetti, was presented in preview in London ahead of its international launch in New York in March 2025, when the book will be distributed worldwide.

“The Bosco Verticale is a shining example of what Italy can offer to the world: a model for future cities that prioritizes green spaces, biodiversity, and the well-being of its inhabitants,” said Ambassador Inigo Lambertini, who hosted the evening and highlighted how architecture can play an important role in diplomacy by shaping perceptions and promoting Italy’s image globally.

“Ten years may seem few for an architecture like the Bosco Verticale, but today it has children and grandchildren scattered around the world. We are not celebrating a birthday today, but the strength of a movement that aims to bring living nature back into architecture,” Boeri commented.

“In these ten years, we have integrated the environmental benefits of the Bosco Verticale with different local, social, and economic conditions. This led to the creation of the Trudo Vertical Forest in Eindhoven, the first vertical forest in social housing for low-income residents, part of one of the most significant urban regeneration projects in Europe,” said Cesa Bianchi.
