Nov. 5 - The Sardinia Region will participate in the World Travel Market in London, one of the most prestigious events in the worldwide holiday organization industry. About thirty Sardinian operators (hotels and hotel chains, tour operators and service companies), accredited by the Regional Tourism, will be showcasing from today until November 8 proposals for holidays in the island. "This is a milestone in the promotion of Sardinia tourism, - said the councilor of Tourism Louis Crisponi – not only do we have the ability to market our tourism products, but the WTM also gives the opportunity to our operators and entrepreneurs to keep up to date with sector developments and remain competitive on the market, because no other fair is as vanguard as the London World Trade Market." The participation at the WTM confirms the regional commitment to the European promotional campaign to strengthen Sardinia’s influence in foreign markets, particularly in the UK, third in Europe in terms of presence in the region (306,623 UK tourists traveled to Sardinia in 2011). After London, the Region has two workshops scheduled, organized by the Department of Tourism, on November 13 in Paris and on the 15th in Warsaw.
WTM - THE BEST OF TOURISM
Organized every year at the ExCel exhibition area of the UK capital, the WTM has the best offer of the 'business to business' international tourist scene. It represents unique opportunity to organize meetings, and make contacts and arrangements. The fair is open to all categories of visitors and exhibitors from the tourism and transport sectors. In last year’s edition, visitor participation increased by 5% compared to the 2010 edition: 50.000 participants (half from the UK and half from
abroad) in the more than 40.000 m2 of exhibition space visitors; 180 countries represented by approximately 5,000 companies and 2500 accredited journalists. Last year, a significant increase (+44%) of online travel representatives was registered. For the 2012, the same success is expected.
