Umbria Region President Stefania Proietti received at Palazzo Donini a visit from Franciscan Father Ibrahim Faltas, vicar of the Custody of the Holy Land. President Proietti recalled how ‘Father Ibrahim Faltas has been a friend for many years because, when I became mayor, we resumed the ancient twinning with Bethlehem of the city of Assisi, and on Christmas Eve 2023, I wanted to be present at the celebration precisely in Bethlehem. I also want to recall that the Region of Umbria is the only Italian region twinned with Bethlehem'. Father Ibrahim Faltas, who wished to honour Stefania Proietti with a personalised memento, underlined ‘the great attention and cooperation of your Region towards the Holy Land, towards Bethlehem in particular’. ‘Many Christian families,’ concluded Father Ibrahim Faltas, “have left Bethlehem during this war, do not leave us alone”.
