Italian Undersecretary of Defense Isabella Rauti attended the event Italy and Inclusion: Putting People at the Center in Jeddah, organized by Minister for Disabilities Alessandra Locatelli during the Vespucci ship’s tour stop. "Inclusion is the measure of a society’s level of civilization and is based on overcoming prejudices and stereotypes, as well as a collective commitment to breaking down all barriers," said Rauti, who oversees military sports activities and disability policies within the Ministry of Defense. The event reaffirmed that the "culture of defense embodies and enacts the principles of inclusion." It also highlighted the collaboration between the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry for Disabilities in promoting social and workplace inclusion as an ongoing commitment. Additionally, the Ministry of Defense supports the twinning at sea between the Vespucci and the disabled-accessible catamaran Lo Spirito di Stella, designed by Andrea Stella without barriers. The catamaran has accompanied many stops of the Vespucci’s world tour as part of Wheels on Waves, a bold nautical initiative that has brought disabled Italian and foreign military personnel, veterans, and members of the Paralympic Defense Sports Group aboard.
