University of Parma lecturer and researcher in mathematical analysis Cristiana De Filippis has been invited to deliver the inaugural lecture of the Mathematics Online Seminar Series (MOSS) organised by the European Mathematical Society Young Academy: a monthly series of online lectures by world-renowned young academics working in the field of mathematics, and from all over the world. The main goal of the series is to inspire the next generation of young mathematicians and mathematicians, i.e. those who are pursuing or have just completed a PhD in mathematics, regardless of their field of study, by introducing them to the latest major achievements in all fields of mathematics, by distinguished mathematicians and mathematicians. Professor De Filippis will give the presentation Nonuniformly elliptic Schauder estimates on 6 February at 4pm; the lecture will be streamed live by the European Mathematical Society and subsequently made available on the Society's YouTube channel. De Filippis received the European Mathematical Society Prize, the most important and prestigious award in European mathematics, in July 2024 in Seville, at the age of just 31. For her, the EMS Prize represents the high point of an impressive series of prestigious awards, such as the G-Research Prize received in Oxford in 2019, the Iapichino Prize of the Accademia dei Lincei in 2020, the International Prize for Mediterranean Culture of the Fondazione Carical in 2023 and the Bartolozzi Prize in 2024, one of the two ‘historical’ prizes of the Italian Mathematical Union. Forbes magazine included De Filippis in its list of the 100 most successful Italian women of 2023.
