Monaco – Once again, the Mediterranean takes center stage in a discussion in the Principality of Monaco. Dante Alighieri-Monaco, under the High Patronage of the Princess of Hanover and with the patronage of the Italian Embassy, is organizing the conference "The Geopolitical Centrality of the Mediterranean” on March 6 at 6:30 PM at the Rainier III Auditorium.
The event is part of the exhibition "Mediterranea," currently on display at the Galerie des Pêcheurs in Monaco until March 30, organized by the association led by Maria Betti in collaboration with the secretariats of Ramoge, Accobams, and Pelagos.
Discussing the geopolitical relevance of the Mare Nostrum will be Ambassador Maria Assunta Accili, advisor to the Italian Society for International Organization; Stefano Besseghini, president of Arera (the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks, and Environment); and representatives from the Permanent Secretariats of the Ramoge and Pelagos agreements—cooperation treaties for marine conservation and the establishment of a sanctuary for marine mammals in the Mediterranean.
The debate will focus on three main topics: diplomacy among the various cultures that have coexisted in the Mediterranean basin for centuries, the protection and preservation of the Mediterranean environment, and the energy networks that make the region a true global crossroads.
Finally, Stefano Besseghini—who has led both national and international research projects, co-authored seven patents, and published 80 papers in international journals—will discuss the energy infrastructures that further solidify the Mediterranean’s pivotal role on the world stage. (9colonne)
