CUAMM, Eni and the Holy See unite for sustainable development

Luanda – The Italian Embassy to the Holy See hosted the event "Powering Progress: The Energy-Food-Health Nexus for Sustainable Development", held at Palazzo Borromeo in collaboration with Doctors with Africa CUAMM. As noted by Ambassador Francesco Di Nitto in his opening remarks, the initiative highlighted the fruitful partnership between the Embassy and CUAMM, and offered an opportunity to explore the essential link between energy, health and the environment in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The event featured the presentation of a "clean cooking" project carried out in Angola by CUAMM, Eni and the Salesians of Don Bosco, aimed at providing more efficient, reliable and sustainable cooking solutions. It served as a strong example of how partnerships, especially those involving local communities and religious organizations, are key to the future of development cooperation.

Among the speakers were Monsignor Fortunatus Nwachukwu, Secretary of the Dicastery for Evangelization, the Angolan Ambassador to the Holy See, Carlos Alberto Saraiva de Carvalho Fonseca, CUAMM Director Don Dante Carraro, Dr. Alessandra Fidanza (Italian Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security), and Andrea Marsanich, Head of Carbon Offset Solutions at Eni.

A technical panel discussion followed, with contributions from Simone Mortara (Eni’s Global Health Competence Center), Alessandro Galimberti (AVSI), Matteo Villa (CEO of Solar Barrel), and Veronica Censi (CUAMM). The event concluded with remarks by Domenico Giani, President of the Eni Foundation, and was moderated by Andrea Atzori, CUAMM’s Head of International Relations.
