Buenos Aires – In a ceremony held in the Red Hall of Palazzo d’Accursio, the Municipality of Bologna and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires officially signed a Pact of Friendship and Cooperation. This strategic agreement formalizes and strengthens a longstanding relationship between the two cities, rooted in shared cultural heritage, ongoing exchanges, and a common vision for sustainable, creative, and inclusive urban development.
The pact was signed by Bologna’s Mayor Matteo Lepore and Buenos Aires’ Minister of Culture Gabriela Bárbara Ricardes, reflecting a mutual commitment to fostering open and dynamic dialogue between two cities internationally recognized for their cultural vitality and both designated as UNESCO Creative Cities.
“The future of cities,” the document reads, “lies in their ability to innovate and address social, environmental, and cultural challenges together, while respecting their individual identities.”
The agreement establishes cooperation on key areas such as cultural promotion, enhancement of artistic heritage, sustainable tourism development, and active citizenship. It also aims to encourage creativity, intercultural dialogue, and civic participation—especially among youth, the elderly, and vulnerable groups—creating a strategic link between Europe and South America.
