Umbria’s emergency medical service receives top international stroke award

Brussels – The Umbria 118 Emergency Operations Center has received the Angels Diamond Award 2025, the highest recognition granted by the international Angels program for excellence in stroke care management. This prestigious award honors the efficiency of the entire regional emergency care chain in treating one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide.
The Angels Diamond Award assesses the full patient care pathway, from pre-hospital response to hospital discharge, recognizing excellence in key areas such as response time, diagnostic efficiency, pharmacological treatment and overall quality of care. This top-tier distinction is awarded only to healthcare services that achieve performance levels exceeding international standards.
The recognition received by Umbria’s 118 Operations Center highlights the outstanding teamwork of all professionals involved in the regional emergency response system. The results are reflected in the many cases in which patients were able to access timely treatment, leading to significant recovery of neurological function and symptoms. These outcomes have also prompted numerous expressions of gratitude and appreciation from patients’ families.
