Italy to host Arctic Circle Forum for the first time

Rome – For the first time, Italy will host the Arctic Circle Rome Forum – Polar Dialogue, taking place on March 3–4 at the headquarters of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR).

The international gathering is promoted within the framework of the Arctic Circle platform, which fosters dialogue on polar regions, the Arctic, Antarctica, and the so-called Third Pole (the Himalayas). The Rome forum is organized by Arctic Circle in collaboration with Italy’s Ministry of University and Research and the CNR, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, with the involvement of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security.

Leading voices in polar research will join representatives from governments and institutions, industry stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and civil society. Discussions will focus on the scientific and geopolitical challenges facing the Arctic and other polar regions, structured around key themes including science, diplomacy, security, education, and research.

The Rome edition marks a significant milestone for Italy’s role in international polar dialogue and scientific cooperation.
