Sept. 19 - Eni and the Congolese state company Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo (SNPC) will jointly explore the hydrocarbon potential of the Ngolo block, part of the geological basin of the Cuvette and is located approximately 350 kilometers northeast from the capital, Brazzaville. The block covers an area of over 16 thousand square kilometers. Eni, through Eni Congo, is participating as an operator in a joint venture with SNPC for the exploration of the block. Exploration activities will take place over a period of ten years in Mesozoic and Paleozoic sedimentary geological sequences. Eni and SNPC will share the extensive operational experience developed both onshore and offshore in Congo. Exploration activities in Ngolo, which will begin in the next few months, will be carried out using the most sophisticated techniques of prospecting, geophysical and remote sensing. The basin of the Cuvette, so far little explored, is one of the new exploration frontiers in Africa. With this initiative, Eni and SNPC further strengthen their partnership and confirm their position as main actors in the research and evaluation of the new hydrocarbon potential of the region.
