Cinema Akil to host Fare Cinema Festival

Dubai - Cinema Akil has just announced the return of the Italian Film Week for its fourth edition. From May 31 to June 6, the independent cinema, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Abu Dhabi, will present six acclaimed Italian films focusing on identity, family ties, and the pains of growing up. The program also includes a retrospective on the master Roberto Rossellini with screenings of his masterpieces such as "Rome, Open City," "Stromboli," and "Journey to Italy." The film festival will open with “There’s Still Tomorrow” by Paola Cortellesi, followed by “The Sun of the Future” by Nanni Moretti. The Italian film series continues with an exploration of a family drama in the thriller "Like Sheep Among Wolves," directed by Lyda Patitucci, followed by “La Chimera” by Alice Rohrwacher and “Casablanca” by Adriano Valerio, set between Morocco and Italy. The journey will also take us to Belarus, France, and Niger to explore modern colonialism with “Disco Boy” by Giacomo Abbruzzese. (9colonne)
