Addis Ababa – During a mission in Tigray, in northern Ethiopia, the Italian ambassador to Addis Ababa, Agostino Palese, recently met with the president of the Regional Interim Administration, Getachew Reda, General Tsadkan Gebretensae, and other local authorities. The mission was an opportunity to reaffirm Italy's strong support for the Pretoria Peace Process, the only path for the Ethiopian population to enjoy the dividends of peace. During the visit, Italy's commitment to the region was confirmed through ongoing and upcoming emergency and development cooperation projects. The ambassador also visited the Gheralta site, where Italy will soon launch a development cooperation project aimed at restoring cultural heritage damaged by the conflict and resuming tourism activities to support the local economy and community.
