As the most important wineries in the U.S., Zonin participated in the 2012 San Francisco International Wine Competion, the largest and most influential international wine competition in the United States held last June at the Hotel Nikko. A panel of nationally recognized wine experts came together for the two-day affair. Judging is based on a blind and consensual procedure in order to retain its integrity as America’s most respected wine competition. More than 4,500 wines were judged this year from 29 countries and 26 states, making it the largest competition in the 32- year history. And Zonin took home total five medals. Double Gold Medal went to Castello Del Poggio 2011 Moscato D’Asti, DOCG, and Castello D’Albola 2008 Chianti Classico, DOCG. Principi di Butera 2010 Nero d’Avola, IGT wins a Silver Medal. Lastly, Bronze Medals go to Principi di Butera 2011 Insolia, IGT and Tenuta Ca’ Bolani 2011 Pinot Grigio, DOC. “The wine experts at the San Francisco wine competition noted the top quality of our wines and this is a great accomplishment for us, especially coming from such a notable organization,” said Marketing Director of Casa Vinicola Zonin USA, Pietro Morelli.
