Celebrating cooperation: Italy's engagement in Iraq's development

Baghdad - A multitude of Iraqi government officials graced the celebrations organized by the Italian Embassy on Republic Day in Baghdad. Among the distinguished guests at the reception hosted at the Royal Tulip Al-Rasheed Hotel were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Fakak al Badrani, and Minister of Construction, Municipalities, Building and Public Works Bangen Rekani. The event also saw the presence of parliamentarians, representatives from Iraqi public institutions, as well as a plethora of delegates from diplomatic, civilian, and military circles, international organizations, and accredited non-governmental bodies in Iraq. Furthermore, attendees from various economic, cultural, and academic spheres internationally graced the occasion. Maurizio Greganti, the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, reiterated Italy's commitment to bolstering Iraq's remarkable potential. He underscored Italy's willingness to provide ongoing diplomatic, military, economic, and cultural support, contingent upon Iraq's consent. Reflecting on Italy's dedication to regional peace, both bilaterally and as the current G7 President, Greganti highlighted key milestones achieved since the previous Republic Day. These included the signing of the Framework Agreement between SACE and the Iraqi High Committee for Export Credit, aimed at fostering private sector development in Iraq. Preceding the official ceremony, Baghdad's Al-Mansour Theatre played host to Giovanni Guidi, an internationally acclaimed jazz pianist and composer, marking the historic occasion with a mesmerizing solo performance. Endorsed by the local Ministry of Culture and attended by over 200 dignitaries, the concert captivated representatives from Iraq's prominent institutions, esteemed members of the global community, and leaders from both the Iraqi and Italian cultural, academic, and entrepreneurial realms, as well as civil society representatives from both nations.
