Nairobi – "Synergies for Health" was the title of an event held at the AICS headquarters, organized in collaboration with the University of Rome Tor Vergata and the Community of Sant’Egidio, with participation from the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa and the National Institute of Health. The meeting provided an opportunity to share and discuss the results of several projects funded in Africa under the "5% Global Fund Call for Tuberculosis, AIDS, and Malaria." The review of the experiences and interventions ranged from the CHAO project, led by the Department of Biomedicine and Prevention at the University of Rome Tor Vergata in collaboration with the Community of Sant’Egidio and Dream Sant’Egidio, which involved 25 healthcare facilities in Kenya, to the Bridge the Gap project, which saw collaboration between the Institute of Management at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, the Community of Sant’Egidio, and the University of Tor Vergata. This project focused on reducing gender disparities in the fight against HIV/TB in Malawi. Another project, WeMen! Improving Women’s Access to Healthcare Systems through Men’s Inclusion, supported by AICS, improved the conditions and adherence to treatment protocols for HIV+ women in Malawi by enhancing partner involvement in HIV/AIDS healthcare services. "The Global Fund’s model, with its global partnership approach, ensures long-term predictability of funding for the fight against HIV, TB, and malaria, with the goal of strengthening health systems. Since its launch, Italian Cooperation has consistently integrated this tool into its broader and priority commitment to the health sector, which is also a pillar of the Mattei Plan," said Rusconi.
