London - Sparkle, Italy's leading international services provider and one of the top in the world, has been awarded the “Project of the Year – Subsea, Terrestrial, Satellite and/or Wireless” prize at the Global Connectivity Awards ceremony, held in London as part of Capacity Europe 2024, celebrating the achievements in the global wholesale telecommunications sector over the past year. Now in their 20th edition, the GCA recognizes innovation, vision, and excellence in the telecommunications industry worldwide.
With the “Project of the Year” award, the jury – made up of over twenty independent industry experts – honored Sparkle for its BlueMed submarine cable system, which extends from Italy to Jordan. BlueMed was recognized as “the most ingenious, visionary, and impactful infrastructure project.”
Featuring four fiber pairs and an initial capacity of over 25 Terabits per second per pair, BlueMed represents a significant evolution in global connectivity, standing out from traditional submarine cables in terms of diversification, scalability, and latency between Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
