San Francisco - On December 14 at 8 PM and December 15 at 5 PM, the monologue Love Letters (Lettere d’amore), written by Dacia Maraini, will be performed at The Marsh in San Francisco. Directed and interpreted by actress Francesca Fanti, the piece tells the story of Mara, who discovers a collection of love letters written by Gabriele D’Annunzio—a figure renowned for his sensual and poetic language. Found among her late mother’s belongings, the letters prompt Mara to reexamine her perception of her mother and their relationship.
Maraini personally invited Fanti to stage the monologue in Italy after witnessing her exceptional performance at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles.
Fanti is no stranger to acclaim; she garnered the ADA Artistic Director Achievement Award for Best Actress in a Comedy in Los Angeles and the Bay Area Critics Award for Best Solo Performance in San Francisco for her bold comedic show Orgasmo Adulto Escapes From the Zoo, written by Nobel laureates Dario Fo and Franca Rame.
Her talent caught the attention of Francis Ford Coppola, who cast her as Filomena Corrado in Distant Vision, an experimental live cinema production directed by Coppola as a month-long project at UCLA.
A versatile performer, Fanti has also lent her voice to notable productions, including Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, Disney-Pixar's Oscar-nominated Luca, and Guillermo Del Toro’s Oscar-winning Pinocchio.
