IIC Prague shines the spotlight on cinema, closing 2024 with record numbers

Prague – The Italian Cultural Institute of Prague closes 2024 on a high note with record-breaking numbers. The Lucerna Cinema was sold out for the screening of Parthenope by Paolo Sorrentino, which marked the conclusion of the 12th edition of the MittelCinemaFest, the Central European Festival of Contemporary Italian Cinema in Prague. The event is a project by Cinecittà and the Ministry of Culture, organized by the Institute and the Lucerna Cinema, under the patronage of the Italian Embassy and with the support of Prague City.

“I am particularly pleased to announce that this year the festival has achieved record numbers, with an average of about 250 attendees per screening,” said Marialuisa Pappalardo, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute.

The lineup included The Time It Takes by Francesca Comencini, Confidence by Daniele Luchetti, The Life Beside by Marco Tullio Giordana, Battlefield by Gianni Amelio, Gloria! by Margherita Vicario, A World Apart by Riccardo Milani, and The American Garden by Pupi Avati.

Additionally, the exhibition Frames of Italian Fashion: From the 1950s, Italy Dressing International Cinema, curated by Stefano Dominella and hosted in the Baroque Chapel and the Institute’s halls, is also breaking records. In just over a month, it has attracted more than 2,000 visitors. Open until January 18, including during the holiday season, the exhibition showcases 41 iconic and original garments by renowned Italian designers and theatrical tailors. It retraces the extraordinary synergy between Italian fashion and cinema. (9colonne)
