Chef Lo Castro to lead Italian chefs in New York, Texas, and Chicago

New York – A name synonymous with prestige, passion, and talent: Chef Salvo Lo Castro has been appointed president of the Professional Association of Italian Chefs (Apci) for the New York State, Texas, and Chicago chapters. He now becomes a key figure for thousands of professionals who work every day to promote the best of Italian culinary tradition abroad.

Born in Catania, Lo Castro honed his craft in the grand hotels of Taormina and Rome before spending prestigious years with the Confraternity of San Carlo in the Vatican, where he cooked for Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI. His career is a shining example of excellence and dedication.

Today, in New York, he is the founder of CasaSalvo, a slice of Italy that has captivated celebrities such as Robert De Niro, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Cruise, and Naomi Campbell.

“I feel a great sense of responsibility and, at the same time, deep emotion,” said Lo Castro. “Apci is the home of Italian chefs around the world. I want to strengthen its identity in New York, Texas, and Chicago, build bridges between generations and territories, and continue to promote our cuisine as an invaluable cultural and human heritage.”
