As part of the commemorations for the 550th anniversary of Michelangelo Buonarroti’s birth, a conference entitled “The Divine Spark: Michelangelo and the Connection between God and Man” will take place on 29 July at the Italian Cultural Institute in Guatemala City. The event will focus on the artistic genius and hidden symbolism of The Creation of Adam, one of the most iconic masterpieces of the Renaissance, painted on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel by this universal genius. The speaker will be Juan Manuel Ávalos Figueroa, an art graduate with a master’s degree in Heritage Management and training in classical philosophy and symbolism.
