Mar. 4 - Professor Maurizio Memo, executive vice chancellor for research coordination, internationalization and higher education at the University of Brescia, was appointed National Coordinator of ASEA-UNINET, the Italian university system members, during the 13th Plenary Meeting of the association, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, last February 17 to 21. The University of Brescia was admitted in 2012 to the network, which also includes the University of Trento, the University of Genoa and Milan Polytechnic. "We believe that South-East Asia is a region that deserves great attention, where there can be learning experiences and common research projects - said professor Memo, “in 2015 the whole area will be liberalized in terms of movement of goods and labor mobility, with some 800 million people able to move freely, exploiting the economic resources and expressing their desire for culture and expertise. I think the University of Brescia can make a significant contribution to the development of this new area."
THE ASEA-UNINET ASSOCIATION
The ASEA-UNINET Association is a network of academic institutions founded in 1994 to encourage and facilitate the exchange of students and teachers as well as the sharing of experiences in teaching and research between universities in Europe and Asia. The university network now sees 68 member universities: 29 European and 39 located in the south-east Asia. Its objective is to support members in projects and initiatives of mutual interest for the benefit of students, teachers and administrative staff, as well as working as a forum for ongoing discussion and projects of excellence in the fields of education, science, art and technology. It is supported by businesses, government and non-governmental agencies.
